Port Chicago Weekend is more than a series of events — it is a public history and civic education initiative that expands access to one of the most important yet underrepresented stories in American history.

Through free public programming, community partnerships, and place-based learning experiences across the Bay Area, PCW strengthens historical literacy, supports intergenerational learning, and fosters a deeper sense of belonging by connecting people to shared history, place, and community. In doing so, it ensures this history is not only preserved, but actively integrated into public understanding, education, and civic life.
